FURTHER to Barbara Dodd's letter (Your Letters, January 27) regarding the litter she witnessed between Townsend Way and Barnards Green, we would wish to point out that a certain stretch of this road is regularly cleaned by three voluntary litter wardens who are members of the Duckworth Worcestershire Trust.
This trust was set up to support volunteers (individuals and groups) who want to do something practical to improve their local environment.
Like Ms Dodd, we too were disgusted by the litter that accumulated from time to time between Mayfield Road and Barnards Green Cricket Club. Rather than expect the council to remedy this on a regular basis (no doubt it would say due to a lack of funding!), we decided to do something about it ourselves rather than complain and we therefore joined the above-mentioned trust.
The trust would, no doubt, be only too pleased if more volunteers came forward who could then be issued with the necessary "litter picker", gloves, bags etc. The contact telephone number for the trust is (01905) 734934.
Peter Holloway, David Withey and David Harrison, voluntary wardens of the Duckworth Worcestershire Trust.
