THE local out-of-hours GP service must be improved, the chief executive of South Worcestershire Primary Care Trust has acknowledged.
Paul Bates was speaking after MP Sir Michael Spicer wrote to him about problems that his constituents had experienced with the service.
Last week, the Malvern Gazette covered the story of Ken Atkinson, who was so ill with gastroenteritis he could hardly stand but had to wait hours to see a doctor.
Mr Bates said the vast majority of patients were receiving out-of-hours services well within Department of Health performance standards.
He has assured Sir Michael that all complaints are investigated thoroughly and offered to meet local MPs to listen to their concerns.
