Birthdays are very special are they not? And when you get a 'big one' it's well worth celebrating.
Last Saturday, I was invited to a party that was very different, in that it took place in a theatre, on the stage.
Bob Wilson (Robert is his official title) has for some 55 years been performing, producing, writing and doing everything possible for amateur dramatics in the area.
Bob is one of those people who seem to have been around for ever. Well, 70 years to be exact - that's why he had a party.
In fact, it was a stage show in his honour with a lot of local performing, and what a great show, ending with a selection from Les Misrables, which was brilliant.
Well done to Sue, who managed to keep everything hush-hush and still organise a great night with a big 'audience' of guests.
I did remind Bob that when I was 12 my Mom took me to see him in Oklahoma (the musical not the state in the USA).
Keep going, Bob.
I received a photo the other week, after writing a bit about Don Taylor, of the old Masons Arms at Wichenford darts team, and in moving some stuff last week I found some more old photos of various sporting teams and the like over the years.
Isn't it strange how everyone else in those pictures seems to have aged but not you (or me in this case). And how fit and youthful we looked!
The other thing that has changed is the kit.
I found a picture of a football team I played for in the 1970s. How short were those shorts? Did we have any skin left on our thighs at all. And the hair... big perms were the order for most, although I never went in for one of those, just the flowing locks, which in my dreams I still think I have today.
I must admit I did enjoy the telly last Saturday afternoon.
Not wishing to upset my Welsh chums, but after all the stick we had last year when Wales won (narrowly) in Cardiff it was good to get one back over the Taffies.
But there's a long way to go in the Six Nations, which I think is even more interesting this year with the Scots having surprisingly beaten the French.
The Warriors are back at Sixways tomorrow, with Sale as the visitors. Should be a tough game.
Get behind your teams.
