ANGERS travelled to Darlaston on Saturday and were beaten for the second time this season by the side that are currently second from bottom of the West Midlands League division one table.
DARLASTON TOWN 4, MALVERN RANGERS 0
However, the result pales into insignificance in that the club have lost the services of their inspirational captain Neil Bond with a double break of the leg.
Rangers had the better of the first-half and should have converted at least a two goal advantage by the interval, with keeper Carl Preece rarely being called into action in the Rangers goal.
Lee Watts, Rob Cullen, Simon Rea and Neil Bond all had goal-scoring chances before the interval.
The second-half was only four minutes old when an almighty scramble in the Rangers penalty area saw the home side score.
On 20 minutes, the incident causing Neil Bond's broken leg occurred and the game was held up for over half an hour awaiting the ambulance.
Within three minutes of the resumption, Rob Cullen shot over the bar following a pass from Mike Cole. Five minutes later, the ball was lost in midfield and Darlaston increased their advantage.
Naturally enough, Rangers had little heart for the game and conceded a further two goals within the space of five minutes before the end.
Rangers, sponsored by the Cross Keys, are scheduled to visit second placed Brereton Social tomorrow (Saturday), kick-off 2.45pm. Players to meet Brooklyn Motors 12.30pm, Oak Apple 12.45pm.
