HIGH-RIDING Comer Rangers comfortably beat Anchor Falcons on Sunday in this Worcester division two encounter at Dysons.

ANCHOR FALCONS 0, COMER RANGERS 5

After a two-week break, Anchor were back in action and were able to parade club record goalscorer Dave Jenkinson, whose long battle back after a serious knee injury saw him start his first game of the season.

Chris Williams returned to the side in an unaccustomed right-wing berth, with Russ Collins partnering Jenkinson in attack.

Anchor found the going hard from the early stages as Comer's physical approach and pacey forwards found time and space to create chances at regular intervals. Will Hale made a couple of decent blocks in the Anchor goal, but was powerless to stop two goalbound strikes giving Comer a two goal lead at the break.

With Paul Hughes replacing Williams at half-time and a reshuffle ensuing with Paul Park moving up front, Collins onto the right and Hughes into midfield, Anchor looked stronger.

Strikes on target, however, were conspicuous by their absence though as Park, Rich Lambert and Collins saw shots go wide of the goal.

Comer's superior fitness told late on, helped by the fact that Anchor had used all three substitutes and then suffered the loss of man-of- the-match Mark Berry and right-back Dyl Wilkins to injuries, which left them playing with only nine men for the final 12 minutes.

Comer, however, deserved the margin of their victory after three second-half strikes gave them a convincing win.

This Sunday, Anchor entertain Droitwich Spa Eagles. Players meet at Dysons at 9.30am.
