AN explosion at a Bewdley vets surgery has left two female staff members with minor injuries.
An oxygen bottle exploded while staff at Redside Vets, in Severnside South, were preparing for an operation at around 11.40am yesterday morning.
The staff who suffered a facial injury and an arm injury, believed to be burns, were taken to hospital in Worcester.
PC Nigel Barter, beat manager for Bewdley, said: "The staff were just changing an oxygen cylinder in one of the operating rooms and while they were doing it there was an explosion but no-one knows why.
"The emergency services were on the scene within minutes. There was a great deal of smoke but no fire. Investigations into the cause are continuing."
The practice remains open as usual, although operations have been cancelled.
