ARSONISTS are believed to be behind a fire at a former Kidderminster sports club in Walter Nash Road.
Firefighters were called out to the blaze at the Oldington sports ground clubhouse, off Walter Nash Road, which used to be owned by carpet manufacturer, Brintons, at around 6pm on Sunday.
Four fire appliances from Kidderminster, Bewdley and Stourport attended the scene and a hydraulic platform from Kidderminster was also used to help put out the fire.
The firefighters were there until 3.20am on Monday extinguishing the fire.
Alec Mackie, spokesman for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue, said around half of the building had been affected by the fire.
Lynne Masters, spokeswoman for West Mercia Constabulary, said the incident was being treated as arson.

Chris Mills, director of Highcross Stategic Advisors, which now owns the land, said the company was "really upset" about the fire.
He added the clubhouse was scheduled to be demolished to make way for a redevelopment scheme once plans had been approved.
Senior Fire Officer, Pete Benkwitz, from Worcester, said he was disappointed to see a group of youths taking photos of themselves in front of the fire.
He added: "There were quite a few youths and some of them were getting themselves into groups and taking photos of themselves in front of it with their phones."
