A RETIRED ambulance man, discovered by his daughter lying on the kitchen floor of his Kidderminster home, died of "natural causes", an inquest heard.
Jeffery Thombs, 60, of Peel Street, was found by his daughter, Pauline, on December 10.
An inquest in Stourport heard how Mr Thombs had an alcohol problem which had caused him to separate from his wife, Kay. He also smoked heavily.
He had been living on his own for a year and his doctor - who feared "he had neglected himself" - alerted the social services.
Dr George Kondratovicz, who carried out the post mortem, believed fatty tissue in Mr Thombs's liver could have been a major factor in his death.
He did not rule out, however, that his asthmatic condition could have played a part.
He confirmed Mr Thombs had not been drinking in the day or so before his death.
Worcestershire coroner, Victor Round, recorded a verdict of death by natural causes.
