EVESHAM will officially launch an initiative on Wednesday in order to become a fair trade town, with an introduction to the subject and how the town will benefit from joining the cause.
The launch is being held at Evesham Town Hall on Wednesday evening with the action getting underway from 7.30.
A panel of guest speakers will use the meeting to explain what exactly Fair Trade is, how it can be supported and how local traders can provide these types of goods for their customers.
Secretary of Evesham's Fair Trade Group, Lynne Jakeman said: "We need the assistance of everyone in Evesham to help us reach our goal.
"That includes commercial businesses, shops, dentists, doctors and churches, but most important of all are the shoppers."
In order to become a fair trade town, five goals must be met.
First, a resolution must be passed by the local council and a range of Fair Trade products must be stocked in shops and used by a number of local work places such as hairdressers.
Evesham must also attract media coverage and popular support for the campaign and a local steering group is set up to ensure a lasting commitment to the towns Fair Trade status.
The evening will also see the first steps of the 'Evesham as a Fair Trade town' project laid out by town Mayor Frances Smith.
Refreshments will be available on the evening with Fair Trade tea and coffee being served from 7pm.
Those who would like more information on the subject but cannot make it to the launch, can contact Lynne Jakeman on 01386 760727.
