Burlish Olympic Ladies 6, Evesham United Ladies 1
EVESHAM got off to a great start at bogey side Burlish on Sunday as they opened the scoring inside the first five minutes.
A long free kick taken by Charlene McLoughlin picked out Sam Perry who raced past a static home defence to fire home her 29th goal of the season.
The lead lasted barely ten minutes as Burlish worked the ball to Debbie Prescott, who drilled home the equaliser from the edge of the penalty area.
United should have regained the lead in the 25th minute when McLoughlin again set Perry free but her shot flashed across the face of the goal with no-one able to add the final touch.
Two minutes later Sarah Lojko screwed a shot wide of the Evesham goal before Burlish took the lead seven minutes before half-time and again it was poor defending on the edge of the penalty area that gave Lojko time to pick her spot.
The home side edged further ahead in the 42nd minute when another defensive mistake presented Prescott with an easy opportunity.
The second period started disastrously for United as a quickly taken corner was played short to Jo Carpenter and her cross cleared everyone to nestle in the far corner.
With United unable to create anything of note during the second half it was Burlish who ran out comfortable winners with further goals from Julie Lowell and a third for Debbie Prescott.
United will have to add more steel to their defending on Sunday when they again lock horns with Burlish, who visit Common Road for a Kidderminster Hospital Cup quarter-final tie (2pm).
