Bretforton 3, East Glos 1
BRET got off to an excellent start in this match at Prince Henry's High School with a slight change in the midfield formation making all the difference.
Midfielder Lisa Workman was back to full fitness and worked well with Deb Slatter and Kim Barry on the right a number of promising attacks which punctured the East Glos defence several times.
After 15mins Bret took the lead with Slatter slipping the ball round the keeper to find Andrea Cole, who forced the ball into the goal. Forward Sarah Hall also linked well with Slatter and Barry.
Sophie Corbett, in a more defensive midfield position, was incisive in cutting out the cross-field balls and kept the attacks pinned down on the wing. East Glos were unlucky not to pull a goal back when a sharp shot from the edge of the D was kept out by the foot of one of their own players.
Bret maintained their lead to half-time but 15 minutes into the second half East Glos pulled a goal back. Despite the pressure, Bret defended well with Lesley McKinnon, Jane Wheeler, Bobbie Handley and Sarah Cooke all working well and intercepting any attack and then feeding the forwards and midfield with some great ball distribution.
Bret's third goal came from an excellent run down the right from Barry, whose accurate cross picked out Hall, who put the ball in the corner to seal victory for Bret.
Player of the match was Lisa Workman and the match ball was sponsored by P K Building Services.
