PEOPLE in Stourport are being asked to share their memories of the canal basins and bring their history to life.
Residents have been invited to an open day on Sunday, March 5, where they can bring in old photographs of the site to help with the multi-million pound regeneration development.
Project bosses have also asked anyone who could shed some light on what was originally written on the Lichfield Basin office sign to get in touch.
A team of Worcestershire County Council archaeologists spent six days on the site last year to unearth information to start the initiative.
The first restoration work of the project, which is expected to be completed in 2008, began last month with work on the Engine Basin.
Funding for the scheme has come from the Heritage Lottery Fund, British Waterways and several partners, including, Stourport Forward, which has donated £200,000.
It is expected the town's economy will receive a boost of £1.7million and up to 70 jobs could be created through the initiative.
Project manager, Alex Ball, said: "One of the objectives is to re-establish a connection between the people of Stour-port and the basins. We have received a lot of interest from residents and, hopefully, they can help us uncover more information through their recollections."
