A WOMAN who drowned in the River Avon in Bidford has been named by Warwickshire police.
Mavis Janet Anderson, of Birmingham Road in Studley was pulled out of the River Avon in Bidford by police last Saturday. Police carried out a search using helicopters and dogs after the 69-year-old woman was reported missing last Friday. The police are not treating the death as suspicious.
The results of a post mortem examination, which was carried out on Monday show that the cause of death was consistent with drowning although toxicology tests are still being carried out. An inquest has been opened and adjourned to a later date.
