EVESHAM Rowing Club's Junior 14 boys were on record-breaking form again last Saturday at the Wycliffe Big Head of the River.
The crew of Tom Noble, Ben Farrar, Jon Farrar and Jordan Bunyan, coxed by Rob Barnett, stormed down the 4,500-metre course in a clock-shattering 19.06 minutes, beating the Junior 14 record by four seconds.
This was the same crew that smashed the course record by a massive 23 seconds over the shorter Wycliffe Small Boats Head course last autumn.
Later that afternoon it was the turn of the Junior 15 boys' quad to sweep to an impressive victory over good crews from Chester and Worcester amongst others.
Oli Staite, Will Tew, Rory Sullivan and James Crumpton, coxed by Dan Barnes, drew away from the other J15 crews with ease and ended up overtaking three Senior 3 women's eights as well.
Evesham's junior scullers are now in training for the National Scullers Head at Henley-on-Thames on March 8.
The junior section is also developing a squad of sweep oar (one oar) rowers. Two sweep crews entered the Wycliffe Big Head and gained useful experience finishing in third and fifth.
The boys will be targeting the Schools Head of the River, rowed over the University Boat Race Course, in March.
