The U3A (University of the 3rd Age) is committed to real lifelong learning by groups of older people sharing their knowledge and experience. The topics covered by each group may be either of a recreational or more serious nature - or even just for fun.

U3A describes the 'first age' as the early years of personal education and development, followed by the 'second age' of maturity and responsibilities. The 'third age' comes after full-time employment or on retirement when there is time to do other things.
