WORCESTER Wolves completed an impressive 109-83 National Basketball League Division One win over Black Country Bears at University College Worcester.
It was the Bears who took the initiative with former Bullets players Simms and Allen penetrating the Wolves defence and the first quarter closed at 28-26.
The second quarter was dominated by Worcester as Colin Chiverton and Josh Cooprider scored at will and by half-time the Wolves held a convincing 53-39 lead.
The second-half saw a spirited fight-back from the Bears, but as the game went on the aggressive Bears got into foul trouble and Paul Gerald, Solvason and Chiverton penalised them with some excellent foul-line shooting.
The final whistle was met with a loud cheer from the home fans as the Wolves won the local derby by 26 points.
Top scorers for Worcester were: Paul Gerald 31, Rick Solvason 22, Colin Chiverton 19, Josh Cooprider 19.
Director of Operations Mick Donovan said: "This was an excellent performance offensively but we now need to continue to work on our defensive play." The win puts the Wolves in joint third position.
The Wolves travel to Northwest London next Saturday.
