DREWE Broughton's head earned Harriers reserves a deserved 1-1 draw at home to Notts County to keep up their title race in Avon Insurance League Division Two.
Broughton, who has had a frustrating spell on the first-team bench in recent months, nodded home Ben Davies' cross on 70 minutes.
County, whose first team are battling against relegation from Division Two, took the lead on 33 minutes with former Leeds man Tony Hackworth's fierce 25-yarder.
Harriers, at a wet and windy Aggborough yesterday afternoon, were only denied by keeper Steve Mildenhall's good save from fit-again Andy Ducros in the first half.
The home side went close through Ian Joy and Andy Corbett in the second period with Mildenhall again impressing to foil former Wolves youngster Lee Downs.
Broughton's goal was followed by chances for County's Michael Brough and Danny Stone but Harriers should have secured the points late on.
Assistant manager Gary Barnett came on as substitute to set up fellow replacement Tony Bird who fired a good opportunity off-target.
Downs, an 18-year-old 6ft midfielder, was released by Wolves without playing a first-team game and has been turning out for Harriers U-19s.
Bournemouth centre-back Graeme Mathie and Tranmere striker Thomas Dreves also featured on trial.
HARRIERS: Danby, Davies, Joy, Downs, Ayres, Mathie, Faulds, Corbett, Broughton (Barnett 82), Ducros, Dreves (Bird 82). Sub not used: Heath.
