ROOKIE Lee Ayres will have another chance to prove his worth in the centre of Kidderminster Harriers' defence in Monday's Nationwide League Division Three clash at Leyton Orient (3pm).
The 19-year-old faced Exeter City at Aggborough today in place of Craig Hinton who needed surgery earlier this week for a broken nose sustained in last Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Rushden & Diamonds.
The influential Hinton is likely to be ruled out for up to three weeks and could miss Harriers Worthington Cup tie at Nottinghamshire Forest on Wednesday, September 11.
Aggborough boss Ian Britton, however, is confident Ayres will grasp his opportunity to impress.
He said: "He's got a chance to stake his claim and hopefully he'll take it and Craig will have a hard job to get back in.
"Lee did very well last season but he's still learning. I think he can become as very good player. The potential is there but the question now is can he take his performances to the next level."
Kidderminster will be aiming to repeat the display they produced at Leyton Orient last season when they clinched a 3-1 victory with goals from Dean Bennett, Richie Appleby and Bo Henriksen.
Meanwhile, Harriers have been chosen to host the England Under 19 European Championship international against Macedonia on Sunday, November 3
