LISA Reisert (Rachel McAdams) is flying home after attending her grandma's funeral when she meets a dashing young man she is utterly charmed by.

Jackson (Cillian Murphy) is handsome, witty and entrancing and the two strike up a deep and meaningful conversation about life, the universe and everything.

But a short while into the flight where, by some strange coincidence, they end up sitting next to each other, Jackson begins to show his true, vile colours.

He is an operative in a plot to kill a rich and influential businessman and has been stalking Lisa, a hotel manageress, for weeks. He demands she fixes which room the businessman will stay in at her hotel, making it easier for him to be wiped out.

As our heroine adamantly refuses, Jackson produces his trump card and tells Lisa a hit man is parked outside her father's home waiting for orders to kill him.

This is a relatively entertaining watch but the tense, nail biting elements, which are quite impressive, are sadly few and far between.

The acting is strong from both McAdams and Murphy but Red Eye definitely won't be remembered as director Wes Craven's finest hour.
