JAN Molby is still waiting for Kidderminster Harriers to score their first goal of the season following last night's goalless Coca-Cola League Two draw with Notts County at Aggborough.
The Harriers director of football, however, was heartened by his side's display and is now looking forward to them hitting the target in Saturday's home clash with Darlington.
Last night's deadlock followed Saturday's 0-0 draw at Rushden & Diamonds.
Molby said: "We were a little better than we were on Saturday and if the physical demands don't take too much out of us then hopefully we'll get better again this Saturday. But as a group we'll hopefully improve and there's still a lot to come from the players and, of course, from the ones who haven't been involved yet.
"Notts County came here as one of the teams expected to do well. They played one of the other promotion favourites on Saturday in Chester and absolutely battered them. I thought we defended well. We didn't give them any room to play and I thought it worked well."
County made the more positive start, but Harriers began to get into their stride with on-loan striker Simon Brown causing the visitors the most problems.
He had a penalty appeal turned down after a clash with David Pipe and then had an angled shot flash just wide. Five minutes before half-time the lively Brown saw his 20-yard drive whistle narrowly off target.
County began the second-half with all guns blazing and struck the woodwork twice within the opening minute. Firstly, Rob Ullathorne had a cross-shot tipped onto the bar by keeper John Danby, then Glynn Hurst was unlucky with a looping overhead flick which clipped the top of the bar.
Harriers, however, quickly regained their composure and new striker Youssou Diop lashed in a fierce drive which was disallowed for offside. Dean Keates also had a shot stopped on the line by Kelvin Wilson.
Harriers: Danby 7, Jenkins 6, Burton 7, Advice-Desruisseaux 6, H Brown 8, Mellon 6 (Russell, 88), Diop 6 (Christiansen, 78), Keates 7, Foster 6 (Rickards, 84), Viveash 7, Hatswell 7. Subs (not used): Lewis, McHale.
Attendance: 2,927.
