Weston St Johns 2 Redditch United 6
NICKY Cross' ragtag Redditch army recorded their first friendly win of the season by the seaside on Saturday.
With four of the goals in a 6-2 win coming from trialists the new player-manager will feel vindicated in his revolving door policy of looking at potential new recruits.
Alvechurch hitman Michael Campbell bagged the first two, a tap in after good work from Paul Danks in the 15th minute and rounding the home keeper on 24 minutes after picking up a ricochet.
Danks had missed a sitter from three yards early on but made amends with one of the four second half strikes.
Player-boss Cross had his first appearance as sub and scored five minutes from time but it was Republic of Ireland under 21s midfielder Aeoghous Martin who caught the eye with a brace from midfield.
United visit Feckenham's Mill Lane ground tomorrow night (Tuesday, ko 7.30pm), Studley on Saturday (ko 3pm) and host newly-formed Banks's Premier outfit Brierley and Hagley Alliance on Tuesday (ko 7.30pm).
