1803: A morning paper states that orders have been given for the making of a new Royal Standard. We are assured our Gracious Sovereign himself (George III) has declared his determination to take this new Standard into the field at the head of his armies should the enemy, the French, succeed in landing in this country.
Lost on Tuesday evening last at Upton Snodsbury, a small liver colour and white spaniel bitch, about seven months old and answering to the name of Phillis. Whoever shall find her and bring her to George Poynter of Upton Snodsbury shall be handsomely rewarded, and whoever shall detain her after this public notice shall be prosecuted according to law.
Thursday last, at Northwick Park, Lady Caroline Rushout was safely delivered of a daughter.
1903: Poor Law statistics show an increase in poverty nationwide. In London there is much acute distress. The newspapers that refer with most insistence to the prosperity of the country also tell of a great want to employment. Open-air meetings of men out of work are held daily in Birmingham. In Worcester, an increase in the poor rate is necessary. The cost of indoor and outdoor relief of the poor has been £640 more over the past year.
Two labourers, Arthur Potter (23) and Henry Edward Sheriff (29), appeared before the Worcestershire Quarter Sessions in the Shirehall charged with throwing stones at the trains of the Great Western Railway in the Kidderminster district. They were each sentenced to nine months' hard labour.
The Great Western Railway is advertising an excursion from Worcester to London on the occasion of the Lord Mayor's Show.
1953: A PuBlic Notice - "Diphtheria Still Kills - Protect your child by immunisation against this deadly infectious disease. Signed: Dr A.J.B. Griffin, Medical Officer of Health for the City of Worcester."
A verdict of "Accidental Death" was returned at the inquest into the death of 40-year-old Mrs Anne Stevens of Ludlow who was scalped when her hair caught in a hop-picking machine while she was hop-picking on a farm at Tenbury Wells. She died in hospital two days later.

Free transport by motor coach to Worcester and back is available from Bromyard and the Downs, Suckley, Alfrick, Leigh, Ledbury, Storridge and Leigh Sinton. Good wages, a canteen, and two weeks' paid holiday are guaranteed.
