A FULL house crowd saw Worcester Wolves beat Colchester United 84-78 at University College Worcester in the National Basketball League Division Two.
The Wolves started strongly with Josh Cooprider hitting three three-point attempts in the opening four minutes.
Ward responded for Colchester against some weak Wolves defending, while Colin Chiverton added to the Wor-cester tally in the first quarter to lead 22-19.
Ty Shaw scored two successive drives to the basket yet Colchester continued to find gaps in the Wolves defence and went into the half time interval with a 42-40 lead.
In the second-half offensive errors from both teams meant that the game remained close.
Shaw did find a way through and Cooprider scored from long range. Going into the final quarter the Wolves re-established the lead with a 61-58 advantage.
Going into the final minute only three points separated the teams with the Wolves just edging ahead.
Worcester scorers: Cooprider 22, Shaw 16, Solvason 10, Prince 10.
