SKIPPER Dave Clark believes Bromsgrove RFC First XV's obliteration of Malvern at Finstall Park will send shockwaves through Midlands Two West.
Clark (pictured) went over for a second half try in last Saturday's clash as Dean Ball's side romped to a 44-12 victory - a record between the two rivals.
The result gives Town outright second place in the table, two points behind leaders Derby.
Clark, also named man of the match, hailed the performance as the best this season, signalling Bromsgrove's championship intent.
He said: "Without doubt it was the best performance of the season. That's a massive margin for two teams who in the past have had close results. The rest of the league will sit up and take note.
"The scale of the win over a good Malvern side will send shockwaves through the league. The forwards dominated from start to finish and set the platform for the backs to perform."
Clark's comments were echoed by his coach Dean Ball.
"We were in control for about 80 per cent of the match," Ball said. "We all knew the importance of it in terms of getting a gap between us and the rest of the league and keeping up to speed with Derby."
The coach was also impressed that his side managed to beat Malvern, who he considers to be title contenders, by a similar margin to the 46-12 defeat of basement side Bedworth two weeks ago.
Bromsgrove now turn their attention to cup action with the visit of Burton, unbeaten at the top of Midlands Three West (North), in the third round of the Powergen Intermediate Cup this Saturday.
Ball added: "Hopefully we can replicate that performance now on Saturday, building on the errors we did make. We just want to sustain the momentum."
