PAUL Wyatt is the only casualty in Worcester City's end-of-season retained list.
City's second-choice goalkeeper has had his contract cancelled by mutual consent after talks with manager John Barton.
All other players have been retained although Barton still plans to bring in several new faces over the summer, which would mean some players currently on the staff will have to be moved on.
Wyatt, aged 22, has played 30 first-team games over the past three seasons, but the excellent form of Danny McDonnell restricted him to just two cup appearances this season.
Barton said: "To be fair to Paul, anyone who had been understudy to Danny this season would have been grinding their teeth in frustration.
"Danny's form has been such that there hasn't been an opportunity for him, and as a result of that Paul''s form has suffered.
"He sees little opportunity here which I accept, although from my point of view I haven''t seen him get close to the form when he had a 13-game run in the side last season. But he has done an excellent job for us and we thank him for his services."
The only other City departure is defender Mark Shail, who has retired from the game.
Signing another goalkeeper will be one of Barton's priorities during the summer and he is chasing several other targets, although he missed out on former Hereford United skipper Ian Wright who has joined Burton Albion.
Barton added: "We didn't quite pull that one off but we have spoken to three or four others, although in each case they are speaking to a number of different clubs.
"We have to work within guidelines. There is a little scope to bring people in, but we can't keep adding to the squad and some people may have to make way."
Barton spoke to all the players last night and made it clear he wants to see improvements from some of them. "There were some fairly interesting conversations and quite a few players have been left with something to prove," said Barton.
"We have been patient because of the injury situation but if they have recovered from their injury they need to return to form and show us what we have seen in the past."
