MALVERN Town maintained their seven point lead at the top of the West Midlands League Premier Division table with this emphatic victory at Dudley on Saturday.

DUDLEY TOWN 1, MALVERN TOWN 7

It was Lee Hooper who opened the scoring for Town in the 18th minute and just five minutes later Scott Morris fired in a brilliant 25-yard strike to put Malvern two up and notch his 14th league goal of the season.

Following Morris's goal, both Hooper and Phil Haines had opportunities to extend Town's lead, but it was an error by Malvern goalkeeper Adam Moss which presented the home side's Mark Walters with a chance that provided his side with a lifeline in the 33rd minute.

Immediately after the break Dudley were denied by the crossbar, but following that scare, Malvern were in irresistible form.

In the 54th minute, Nathan Owen squeezed the ball home to secure his sides two goal advantage and in-form striker Luke Willetts, who has now scored in Town's last five matches, finished emphatically to register Malvern's fourth goal just five minutes later.

An excellent Rik Halion strike put Malvern in an unassailable position in the 65th minute, whilst the rampant Willetts struck a superb volley in the 80th minute to further increase his side's advantage.

Two minutes later Willetts fired over an empty goal, but Town were now in total control and in the 85th minute, the ever-influential Lee Hooper secured his second goal and Malvern's seventh to finish off an excellent afternoon's work for the league leaders.

Tomorrow (Saturday) Malvern Town travel to Delahay Meadow to play Bromyard Town (2.45) in a West Midlands Premier Division fixture.

After a difficult start Bromyard Town have improved in recent weeks and are presently in a mid-table position. Their league game at Coseley Town last Saturday was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Town have been drawn at home to Lye Town in the semi-finals of the WFA Senior Urn. This game is expected to take place in January.
