WORCESTER City winger Keith Knight says his form has improved because he is enjoying his football again.

The former Cheltenham Town player is now beginning to get into his stride after a low-key start to his career at St George's Lane.

The capture of the 30-year-old in the summer by former boss Graham Allner was seen as a major capture.

Knight was a key player in Cheltenham's Nationwide Conference title-winning side last season, and helped them win the FA Umbro Trophy the year before.

However, he turned down the chance to go full-time with Cheltenham and opted for a return to the Dr Martens League with City, having experienced that league with Cheltenham, Gloucester, Trowbridge and Halesowen.

Knight's form suffered during City's disastrous start to the season and he admitted: "That was mostly due to the fact that I wasn't enjoying it at all.

"I have got my own views on Graham but I was a little bit disappointed with the way things worked out.

"The club was portraying me in a certain light, and it certainly wasn't all sweetness and light."

But the arrival of John Barton as manager has transformed the form of certain players, including Knight who is now beginning to show the form most people knew he was capable of.

"Since John has come in he has instilled a bit of belief in us, and I have thoroughly enjoyed it.

"I know I haven't performed particularly well but there is a lot more to come from me, and I am determined to show the people here that I am a good player."

Knight believes that City are perfectly capable of finishing in the top six if they can continue their impressive form, and he is not worried about the fact that they still have to play the chief title contenders -- Boston United and Bath City -- twice each.

"They won't fancy coming to our place -- we are no easy pushovers any more.

"We would like to finish in the top six and if not, certainly in the top half of the table."

Knight is also keen to remain part of Barton's revolution at St George's Lane -- he is under contract until the end of next season.

"I shall not be going anywhere. John has made it plain that he wants me to stay, and I certainly won't be looking to move."
