MRS Jenny Chance, from Hastings Road, Charford, was voted Bromsgrove's Miss British Legion 1978. She had been selected at a dance organised by the branch social club as part of the Poppy Appeal.
A PROPOSAL that Birmingham City Council should take control of two large housing estates at Frankley and Kitwell, amounting to some 3,000 homes, received a mixed reaction in the Bromsgrove district. They had been built by the city in Hereford and Worcester County Council Territory but tenants paid their rates to Birmingham. Libraries and some other services we provided by the county but Bromsgrove District Council was responsible for emptying their bins.
TALKS were to be held between bosses at Bromsgrove council and unions to try to avert a problem regarding collecting the backlog of rubbish from households after the festive period. The men wanted an £80 bonus to do the work but the council was only offering £65.
