SUNSEEKERS will have the chance to indulge themselves this winter - while helping Operation Covert - after Co-op Travel donated £500 of travel vouchers to a raffle in aid of the appeal.

Five thousand tickets have been printed for the Rhydd Covert Warden's Raffle and the man behind the draw, site warden Mark Woodward, believes they will sell like hotcakes.

"I don't think I'll have any problems selling the tickets - I think it's a super prize," he said.

"We've got £250 Marks and Spencer vouchers for second prize and some really nice other prizes.

"They've all been donated so again it's the community doing their bit for Covert."

Other prizes for the raffle, to be drawn on December 18, include a wooden rocking horse, handmade by Bernard Ingram of the Kidderminster and District Scout Council Executive Committee, and various day trips out.

Mr Woodward added of the travel vouchers: "It's one of the biggest prizes I've ever known for a raffle so it's well worth £1 a ticket.

"You've got a one in 5,000 chance of winning so the odds are slightly better than the lottery."

He said tickets for the raffle would be on sale at various outlets in Kidderminster in the coming weeks and he would welcome help from anyone willing to lend a hand to the sales effort.

"We've got a little team being formed to sell them and if anyone wants to get involved in helping that would be great," he said.

"It's a great team effort so even if there is someone with just an hour to spare that would be lovely."
