HORSE riders will be able to enjoy a pleasant ride and a beer at a country pub while raising cash for Operation Covert next month.

Wyre Forest Ride is being organised by Cordelia Noble - a freelance photographer, who works for the Shuttle/Times and News - and her sister Elaine, a teacher at Wolverley High School.

It is the third annual event of its kind organised by the sisters and is bound to be great fun, according to Cordelia.

Half of the proceeds paid for taking part will be donated to the rebuilding of the Rhydd Covert Scout Centre and the other half will go to Brooke Hospital for Animals, which cares for horses, mules and donkeys in Egypt, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Jordan.

Cordelia said: "It's a fun ride for horses and riders which is going to be mapped out through the woods of Wyre Forest.

"There will be a visit to the Button Oak Pub on the way, where someone will bring drinks out to the riders from in the pub."

She added: "We wanted to help Covert because it's a local charity and we've always raised money for Brooke Hospital."

She said riders of all ages would be welcome on the trip, which spans 12 miles, although there was also the option of a five-mile ride.

Cordelia, who will be photographing riders during the event, as well as acting as a guide, said: "It's a good day out because the Wyre Forest is a really interesting place to ride through."

The ride is signposted from the Wyre Forest Visitors Centre off the A4117 between Bewdley and Cleobury Mortimer.

It will take place between 10am and 2pm.
