CHRISTMAS has come early for Operation Covert after a bumper cash donation collected during last year's festive period.
Kidderminster and Hagley Round Table has contributed £700 towards our appeal as part of a massive charity cash handout.
Hardworking round table members spent nine days last Christmas touring the streets with Santa and a speaker system playing festive classics to bring seasonal cheer to residents.
Along with Operation Covert, The Brambles Trust, Kids Get Going, World Challenge and Strawberry Fields Play Group also benefited from members' efforts.
Cash also went towards the round table's fund for the victims of the Asian tsunami.
Treasurer, Dave Bass, said: "Operation Covert is a good local appeal and that is what we want to get involved in. We very much like to support local charities and local initiatives.
"We collect for several different charities and these charities come out with us during the evenings. We have a couple of nights where it is just done by round table members."
The round table is always on the lookout for new members and anyone interested in joining can contact the organisation on 01562 851356.
