MATHON, Cradley and Storridge Tennis Club's men's B team recorded their second win of the winter league, 3-1 over Ludlow Castle on Sunday.
The first pair of Tony Dalley and Chris Brandon-White made a good start with a 6-1, 6-3 win over the Ludlow second pair.
Tony and Chris then made a shaky start to their second rubber, the former pulling a muscle in the second game. The pair had to fight hard to take the set 7-5. With Tony's injury improving, they played some excellent tennis to take the second set 6-0.
Meanwhile, the second pair of Martyn Coomer and James Somerville lost 6-2, 6-3. They then upped their game and made life very difficult for the Ludlow second pair.
Although they lost the first set 2-6, they really fought hard to take the second 6-4 and then the decisive set, also 6-4.
The team have now won two, drawn one and lost one with one match left to play, which should be good enough to hold their place in the division.
There are three regulars injured and reserves will need to be used for the final match.
