MALVERN RFC are out of the relegation places after taking the points at home to Newbold on Saturday.
The team's excellent 33-10 win saw them leapfrog Leamington, who lost heavily at second-placed Kenilworth.
Director of rugby David Robins said: "We weathered Newbold's early storm and imposed ourselves firmly on the game.
As well as praising the pack, he also highlighted the performance of two-try Dave Wilkinson.
He said: "In midfield, Dave Wilkinson showed great vision and thought, whilst our defensive line, once again controlled by the wise head of Gareth Richards, held fast, snuffing out the Newbold backs who had given us a torrid time in October."
The match also saw the return of Jamie Anderson from injury after 11 months.
