STAND-in keeper Dean Drinkwater was the man-of-the-match for Powick, saving a penalty to help his side to three points in a pulsating local derby on Saturday.
POWICK 4, WELLAND 3
Powick fell behind to an early goal before a Gary Henderson through-ball saw Stuart Harvey level. Welland went ahead again but Nick Prosser stabbed home from close range to even things up.
Foul and abusive language to the referee saw the visitors reduced to ten men but it was they who were playing the more effective, passing football.
The reward was the penalty which Drinkwater saved from Russ Bowen.
Powick then took the lead for the first time, Dave Lewis charging down an Avery clearance but this time Welland came back, Bowen heading home from a free-kick.
The winning goal arrived two minutes from time, from Jamie Abba. It was hard on Welland, who showed real character.
n Powick also took the points away at Kays on Sunday, their 4-1 win coming through goals from Stu Harvey, Gary Henderson and Tim Lambeth, plus an own-goal. Man-of-the-match was keeper Steve Davis. Kays got one back in the last minute.
