MALVERN's Catherine Lees and Ursula Voisey will be tackling a 60-mile walk with a sparkle.
Both are members of Worcester Rambling Club, which has created the diamond-shaped walk to mark its 60th anniversary.
The walk has Worcester at its centre, uses existing footpaths and takes in local landmarks, including the Pepperpot in Upton, Three Kings pub in Hanley Castle, the duck pond in Hanley Swan and the fountain at the edge of Malvern Link common.
The club's 160 members will tackle the walk in several sections on their weekly Sunday rambles, following a guidebook with maps, drawings and information about the villages and landmarks along the route.
Mrs Lees, who has taken part in the club's Sunday rambles for the past 15 years, says walking is a wonderfully social activity.
"I've always walked. The club walks get me out in the fresh air and what's nice is that each Sunday the walk is somewhere different, so I get to see new places," she said.
The club also holds social events during the year, including an annual awards ceremony where walk leaders and members are presented with tiny trophies, including a miniature umbrella for the wettest walk and an ice cream cone for the hottest.
In partnership with Worcestershire County Council, volunteers from the club have cleared footpaths and built stiles, bridges and steps, the aim being to put something back into the countryside they enjoy walking so much.
