BOSSES at Redditch Arrows say they are confident of putting last season's disappointments behind them.

The club, which has just celebrated 20 seasons, has been placed in a different division this term and a club spokesman said the players are looking forward to the new campaign.

They will again be competing in the British American Football League (BAFL) but have been moved into Division Two Central - a four-team conference alongside Manchester Titans, Merseyside Nighthawks and Chester Romans. The top two will qualify for the play-offs.

Their schedule includes home and away games against Manchester, Merseyside and Chester and also inter-conference games against Oxford Saints, Plymouth Admirals and Reading Renegades.

The spokesman added: "We go into 2006 with a lot of optimism. 2005 was a disappointing season for the club, however pre-season training has started excellently with great turnouts so we feel confident that we will be very competitive this year."

The Arrows, who will again be based at Kings Norton RFC in Hopwood, start their season on April 30 at Oxford with the first home game on May 14 against Plymouth.
