DIVORCEES Amanda and Elyot thought they had seen the last of each other but in an uncanny coincidence five years on they find themselves honeymooning with their new respective spouses in the same hotel.
Their chance meeting re-lights the flames of fervid passion but also reminds them why they divorced, in Nol Coward's classic comedy Private Lives, coming to Malvern next week.
Set in France in 1930, Private Lives is full of Coward's trademark wit, song and sparkling repartee.
Belinda Lang, who stars in this sumptuous new production, is one of the UK's most popular actresses. The star of 2Point4 Children on television, her West End roles include Alan Ayckbourn's Things We Do For Love, David Hare's The Secret Rapture and Coward's Present Laughter. Last year she starred in David Haig's acclaimed play about Rudyard Kipling, My Boy Jack.
Joining Belinda is Julian Wadham, who has appeared in numerous productions for stage, screen and television. West End appearances have included Our Country's Good and Serious Money for the Royal Court Theatre and most recently David Hare's Plenty at the Albery Theatre. Films have included The English Patient and the Acadamy Award-winning Madness of King George.
Director David Haig is also well-known as an actor and writer. His television appearances include The Thin Blue Line and he appeared in the film Four Weddings and a Funeral. He was recently on stage in the West End production of the First World War drama Journey's End.
