AWARD-winning play Festen starts its national tour of Britain at Birmingham's Repertory Theatre on Friday, running until February 18.
Based on the renowned cult movie and play, which saw the start of the much-celebrated Dogme movement, Festen wowed audiences at the West End and is beginning its national tour in the Midlands before moving to Broadway.
The play tells the story of Helge Klingenfelt, who is celebrating his 60th birthday with his family at a house in the Danish countryside. As the evening progresses, one of his sons breaks the silence surrounding a dark family secret...with explosive effects.
Directed by Rufus Norris, Festen was nominated for five Olivier Awards including Best New Play and also won the Evening Standard awards for direction and design.
The play contains strong material and sensitive subject matter and some people may find it unsuitable for under 15s.
It runs from Friday until Saturday, February 18, with performance times 7.30pm Monday to Saturday and matinees at 2.30pm on February 9, 11 and 16.
Tickets priced £11-22.75 are available from the box office on 0121 236 4455 or online at www.birmingham-rep.co.uk
