Littleton 1,
Leamington Hibs 4
AN INJURY crisis of catastrophic proportions forced Littleton to turn to two more goalkeepers last Saturday when the Midland Combination side lost out for the second successive weekend to a side struggling near the foot of Division One.
Striker Paul Jones was first between the sticks but once Matty Staley had been forced off the field with an injury in the first half, Jones was reinstated in attack and Jon Gregory, unfit for an outfield role, took his place off the substitute's bench.
The hosts dominated the opening stages only to concede a goal from the Leamington side's first attack.
The lead was doubled eight minutes before the break and a third goal right on the stroke of half-time screamed past the helpless Jones who was then handed the unenviable task of pepping up the forward line.
The injury jinx struck again as Graeme Hay and Philip Haines joined the lengthening list but Littleton dug deep and Simon Brain rolled back the clock 15 minutes from time to make it 3-1 after being put through by Jones.
Committed to attack in an effort to find a second goal lifeline, the hosts were caught on the break and Hibs netted a fourth in the final minute to quite literally add insult to injury!
There's a local derby at Five Acres on Saturday (2.45) when Ettington, formerly Wilmcote S & S, are the visitors for a league contest.
