Bromsgrove Vets 17,

Evesham II 26pts

ELECTING to play down the steep slope and with the wind at their backs Evesham were looking to build a healthy lead by half-time.

They started well with their lighter forwards competing well against with a physical and wily Bromsgrove eight and winger Sam King roun-ded his man to touch down in the corner.

The visitors were looking to increase their lead when a loose pass led to an interception and a converted reply that only spurred Evesham into action.

Mo Parkinson made a break and passed the ball out of the tackle to Ric Taylor who released full-back Dave How-arth to crash over to give his side a 12-7 interval advantage.

The home side hit back hard, repeatedly using the rolling maul and crash ball to gain ground, but great defending held them at bay.

It was Evesham who scored the next try when left wing King outstripped the cover defe-nce with Taylor slotting over the extras.

Bromsgrove's converted try narrowed the difference but the pend- ulum swung back Eve-sham's way when Park-inson's break left Tom Appleby to continue the sweeping move and put "Iceman" King in again with Taylor adding the conversion.

Bromsgrove did have the final say when they crossed for a late try.
