A WOMAN motorist had to flee after another driver carrying a knife tried to get into her car.
The frightening incident occurred in Middle Lane, near Gaudi Luce Golf Club, in Droitwich, at around 6.25pm on Wednesday, January 25.
The man's car, believed to be a red or dark-coloured Volvo S60, slowed down and stopped in front of the woman's Vauxhall Frontera. The driver got out and approached the woman's vehicle, gesturing to her to get out and trying both the driver and passenger door.
He also opened the door of his vehicle in an attempt to stop the woman from driving off, but she managed to do so, despite the man hanging onto the wing mirror of her vehicle.
A police spokesman said: "At this time, the man's motives in this very frightening incident are not known. We are treating this matter extremely seriously and want to hear from anyone who may have any information that will help lead to the early identification and apprehension of this man."
At the beginning of the incident, a third vehicle was waved past by the man. Police believe the driver of this vehicle may have information crucial to their investigation.
Anyone who was in Middle Lane between 6.20pm and 6.30pm and saw anything at all suspicious or unusual involving slow-moving or stationary motor-vehicles is urged to contact police on 08457 444888, quoting 512S/250106.
