Kingswinford III 0,Pershore III 1
PERSHORE'S third team players continued their excellent run of form with a hard-fought victory.
Mike and Tommy Handley controlled the centre of the pitch and launched attack after attack for new boy Karl Lawson to chase.
Pershore created chance after chance and were awarded a number of short corners and everyone produced an excellent strike but the frame of the goal and some excellent goal keeping denied them.
And, when Chris Ridings hit a shot from the edge of the D that eventually beat the keeper, a defender cleared the ball off the line.
A good half-time talk reinvigorated the visitors but they were again indebted to more stalwart defending from Pete Moreby and Mike Handley.
Luke Dalley fizzed a shot narrowly wide before a slide-rule pass by Gavin Pugh released Graham Handley on the wing.
When all thought he wasn't going to quite catch the ball he wrapped his stick around it to produce the perfect cross for Neil Herman who, with the deftest of flicks, sent the ball into the net for a deserved winner.
Pershore continued to press for a second mainly through Graham Handley but it was the efforts of goalkeeper Lee Wickersham that prevented an equaliser despite a few close shaves.
