MEMBERS of Childswickham Gun Club met for the first time in 2006 last Sunday to contest for the Herbert Sandals Skeet Cup.
Bright, cold and occasionally blustery weather made for testing conditions for the 23 competitors, with the wind altering the trajectory and speed of many targets.
The Skeet competition produced some creditable performances, in particular young Danny Andrews, who posted a score of 18 ex 25.
Chris Vale, who occupies a position at the other end of the age and experience spectrum from Andrews junior, performed flawlessly until a lapse in concentration resulted in several targets being missed in short order.
Ultimately, the event concluded in a draw between Dave Andrews and Nigel Bussell who both recorded 24 ex 25. The resulting shoot-off proved to be a little anti-climactic with Bussell emerging victorious.
The next club competition will be held on Sunday, February 26.
