ONE of the music world's greatest eccentrics and former frontman of a top 80s act will be calling in on the area as part of his latest UK tour.

Julian Cope's appearance in Wolverhampton comes in the wake of his latest release Dark Orgasm, which came out in November and followed on from the long-awaited new LP, Citizen Cain'd.

The star shot to fame and notoriety with The Teardrop Explodes in the immediate post-punk era of the late 70s, with hits such as Reward and Passionate Friend.

He has continued to make albums and produce other performers ever since and is also author of two highly respected encyclopaedia of ancient monuments in Europe and the British Isles, the world authority on Kraut Rock and owner of one of the biggest collections of Dinky Toys in the Western world.

A LIVELY rock and blues group is aiming to get Worcester folk up on the dance floor when they play a gig this weekend.

Breach of the Peace formed about 15 years ago and include Richard Hinds on lead guitar, Steve Matthews on vocals, Graham Bond on drums, 'Tiny' on bass guitar, Steve Frost on guitar and Richard James on piano.

The band will be performing at The Slug & Jug in Worcester's Cornmarket on Sunday night.
