GRAHAM Turner has ordered his Hereford United players to shake off Tuesday's LDV Vans Trophy knockout and concentrate on one of the biggest games of their Conference season.

The Bulls travel to Grays Athletic for the first time tomorrow aiming to avenge the 2-0 loss they suffered against the Essex outfit last August.

Turner's troops head south on a slight downer following their LDV Vans Trophy exit to Macclesfield Town, in which poor defending gifted the League Two side a 2-0 northern area semi-final win.

"Naturally, the players are disappointed with the LDV result," said director of football Turner. "But we must pick ourselves up and get on with it.

"I thought our general performance was good, but we did not have the punch in the right areas. We just could not get the breaks to score a goal.

"I'm disappointed in the manner that we conceded those two goals like that. From a defensive point of view, they were two poor goals.

"Our defensive record has been very good this season and with the players we've got, we should have dealt much better with it. We created a few opportunities to get back into the game, but it was not to be."

Turner praised the 300-strong Bulls following that travelled to Cheshire and is hoping for good backing once more in tomorrow's crucial promotion clash.

United are just two points behind third-placed Grays and have two games in hand on several rivals near the top of the Conference table.

Star striker Adam Stansfield, missing at the Moss Rose with a hip injury, returns up front and will look to continue his excellent run of form.

But Turner is forced to replace midfielder Jamie Pitman, who sees a knee specialist on Monday after suffering potential cartilage damage at Macclesfield.

Rob Purdie is the likely replacement for Pitman, while Ryan Green and Tony James are itching for a recall.

Turner said: "It's an important game for us. First of all, we must make sure we do not lose the game. That is not being negative, but with the make-up of our side, we are going to have to battle away."

Meanwhile, striker Graham Evans has left the Bulls on a free transfer to Total Network Solutions.

Evans, 26, joined from Caersws in the summer after banging in 132 goals in 191 appearances for the League of Wales side. But he struggled to make an impression, failing to score in two starts and 10 substitute appearances.
