COLWALL WHC maintained their lead at the top of Severn division one beating Hereford in a close-fought match at Ledbury Leisure Centre on Saturday.

Colwall started brightly, but found the Hereford goalkeeper in good form, saving good efforts shots from Coral Handley, Nicky Glover, Jackie Styles and Lucy Halligan.
Colwall opened the scoring when Glover picked up the rebound when Handley's shot was saved by the keeper, and slipped it into the goal. At the other end, Hereford were denied by good defending and two good saves from the Colwall keeper.
In the second half, Colwall continued to apply pressure on the Hereford goal, and almost went further ahead when Handley scored but the goal was disallowed.
Colwall lost sweeper Halligan with a head injury towards the end of the match, and Hereford sought to take advantage of her absence by forcing a succession of short corners.
Hereford almost equalised with virtually the last hit of the match when they bundled the ball over the line, but for the second time in the match, the goal was disallowed.
Tomorrow (Saturday), Colwall are away at Cirencester.
