AN overnight frost meaning 18 temporary greens and a trolley ban in force since January 16 did not deter 32 couples taking part in a Greensome Stableford at The Worcestershire Golf Club.
Dense fog did, however, bring play to a stop briefly when the course was closed for 20 minutes at around 11am. Play was resumed and all groups saw their round to a conclusion. Some splendid scores were recorded despite the conditions.
Third with 47 points were John Duncan and Barbara Wilkinson. Second with 48 points were Terry Price and Wendy Ormerod and first, a pair who stood in at the last moment to fill a gap on the start sheet, James Milne and Brenda Jones.
Twenty-two teams took part in a four man Alliance Stableford. The top prize went to Paul Yorke, Dave Farrell, Phil Shurmer and Carl Baylis with 97 points. Runners-up with 94 were Rob Coe, Mike Bramall, Mark Read and Phil Dance.
Mixed foursome stableford (30 pairs entered): 1 Colin and Jenny Jones 39pts, 2 David and Barbara Wilkinson 38, 3 Andy and Alex Dunster 36.
