THERE was no change at the top of thesoccersite.co.uk Malvern League after Sunday as all four teams at the top of the league won.
Leaders Bell Inn 98 visited Fromes Hill and came away with the points following a 6-0 victory. In a fairly tightly contested first-half Bell Inn 98 took the lead in the 15th minute with a great header by Ashley Jones from a Jim Argent corner. This lead was doubled on the half hour when man-of-the- match Lee Hooper scored from 35 yards with a speculative lob.
Darren Lynch marshalled the home side well and they had the better of the remaining play in the first-half without being able to pull a goal back.
Bell Inn 98 came out firing on all cylinders and their lead was doubled within the first five minutes of the half. Firstly Lee Hooper netted his second after a superb five-man move down the right, then Dan Herbert scored with an overhead kick from a Pete Brown free-kick.
It became 5-0 when Chris Grubb got onto the end of a cross from Pat Locke, who had beaten four opponents before crossing. Substitute Tim Beaumont then completed the scoring when a pin-point cross from Ashley Johnson left him with the simple task of tapping in.
Second-placed Cross Keys kept the pressure up on the leaders when they put an end to Oak Misfits' recent good run with a convincing 11-1 victory at Sling Lane. Their goals came from Dale Humphries, James Badham, Andy Hurrell and four each for Ollie Endacott and Rob Cullen with Misfits' reply from Chris Hodges.
Keyz 04 retained third spot with a 5-1 victory over Keys Victoria. Nick Lancett gave Keyz 04 the lead in the 14th minute and Andy Lancett then made it 2-0 in the 20th minute.
The second-half saw Tom Holland make it 3-0 in the 57th minute. Keys Victoria pulled a goal back in the 68th minute when, following a mix up and collision between Keyz Steve Newman and Mark White, Steve Wood was on hand to capitalise on the error.
Andy Lancett then scored his second in the 77th minute and then completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot in the 80th minute for his 22nd goal of the season.
At half-time at Ross Road, Ledbury it looked like a shock result was on the cards as visitors Belmont Keys led Oak Allstars by 2-1. But a forthright team talk saw a much better second-half performance as Allstars netted five times without reply to win 6-2. Prolific goal scorer Jamie James netted twice, first with a bullet header and then he lobbed the visiting keeper from almost the halfway line. Even this effort was surpassed by one of the two goals scored by Neil Gardiner. Hhe gained possession of the ball just outside his own area before proceeding to beat player after player and then sending in an unstoppable shot from a tight angle. Oak Allstars scoring was completed by goals from Mark Toman and substitute James Dean
Despite taking an early lead, Ledbury Rangers eventually went down 2-4 to visitors Talbot Head. Daniel Kertis gave them an early lead, with a goal by Nick Evans pulling it back to 2-3 in the 76th minute, but an 88th minute penalty to Talbot finally put paid to their hopes of a point. The visitors' goals came from Paul Harris, David Schooling and two from Tom Hofton.
Oak Academy entertained Fromes Hill Reserves and goals from Dean Kibble and a Tom Gardiner penalty gave the 2-0 lead at half-time.
But once again they faded and the visitors eventually took all three points with goals from John Gittings, Chris Holmes and Chas Jones giving them a 3-2 victory.
This Sunday sees the league with two representatives looking for a place in the quarter-finals of the WFA Minor Cup with Morgan Aero 8 at home to Gilt Edge and Cross Keys travelling to Wren's Nest.
