WEDNESDAY CLUB: Members were welcomed by chairman Mary Mountford. Members present were asked to sign for the spring tea on March 1, costing £3 each.
A vote of thanks was taken, choosing a traditional turkey dinner for the new year lunch 2007.
The talk was given by Mark Gosland on Crime Reduction.
The next meeting is on February 1 when Mr Brian Draper will give a talk on Wildlife in the City. All are welcome.
GARDENING CLUB: Dr Eric Jones, volunteer worker for the Council of National Parks, gave an insight into this organisation. The first national park in 1872 was in the USA. Britain's first park was the Peak District, set up in 1951. Now there are another 10 with the inclusion of the New Forest last year, and the South Downs and the Cairngorms being planned.
The shield for the winner with post points for the monthly competitions for last year was presented to Anne Suffield.
