Kidderminster Cricket Club
KIDDERMINSTER are among 100 cricket clubs throughout England and Wales taking part in the Chance to Shine project aimed at rejuvenating competitive cricket in state schools.
The Chance to Shine initiative was set up by The Cricket Foundation and began with a pilot scheme during England's triumphant Ashes series last year, just involving 12 clubs and 75 schools.
Now the net has been cast wider, with each of the 100 clubs working with six schools - both primary and secondary.
The clubs will engage qualified coaches to provide high-quality cricket programmes through instruction and competitions.
Chance to Shine is being financed by an appeal, which aims to raise £25 million over five years through corporate sponsorship and private donors. The Government will match the funding pound-for-pound, and Sport England have announced a £2 million investment in the campaign.
